Regina Press has a long and colorful history. Originally, its main focus was on traditional Catholic devotional prayer books, First Communion books and Sunday and Daily Missals. For many years, The Marian Daily Missal was one of the best selling missals in the marketplace. In the early 1960's, Vatican II changed the Catholic market forever, and nearly 90% of all Catholic publishers went out of business. Regina Press is one of the publishers who survived. Regina Press is also very proud of the fact that it has continuously published First Communion books since 1914. The Marian Children's Mass Book has been in print since 1952, and is one of the most popular, and most likely, best selling First Communion books ever published. Over the years, it has been translated into fourteen languages. Today, it is in its fifth edition.
Over the next four decades, Regina Press would emerge as a market leader in the field of Catholic children's books. Titles such as The Catholic Children's Bible, The Children's Book of Saints and The Catholic Children's Prayer Book have been perennial best sellers. Recently, new titles featuring the artwork of Kathy Fincher and Maggie Swanson have been released, and we believe that the quality of their artwork is a significant contribution to the Catholic children's market. Additionally, the artwork of William Luberoff is featured in many Regina Press titles. Titles such as A Catholic Child's Illustrated Lives of the Saints, The Illustrated Rosary for Children, Catholic Prayers and Devotions, Favorite Catholic Prayers and Praying the Rosary all feature his unique style. The artwork of the European Masters also figures significantly in some of our adult devotional titles. The Illustrated Rosary, The Illustrated Lives of the Saints and My Prayer Book are some of the titles featuring artwork of the European Masters.
Regina Press has a long-standing relationship of nearly twenty-five years with Rev. Victor Hoagland, C. P., who has authored many of its titles. Many of his titles are well known in the marketplace. Publications such as My Prayer Book, Praying the Rosary, Catholic Prayers and Devotions and The Book of Saints have been perennial best sellers. Regina Press has very high hopes for his newest title, The Book of Catholic Prayers.
